Condition: This set is in good condition. Leather. Half leather boards are worn along edges, corners, and outer hinges. The pebbled cloth is also chipped and torn as on some volumes. Volume 4 is more heavily worn than the rest. Five raised bands on spine with titles in gilt. Leather is chipping on some of the bands and along spine. There is some loss to head/tail of spine. All edges red. Hinges are tight. Binding square. Floral endpapers are in good shape. The text block has some foxing but is otherwise clean and bright. These books are profusely illustrated with exquisite photogravure engravings and other etchings. Each full page illustration has a tissue guard. An impressive set of books weighting close to 30 lbs and measuring 9.5" x 12."
