Condition: This book is in good condition. Hardcover. Publisher's original green decorative cloth boards are worn along edges and corners; some staining on spine. Cover features a lovely heraldic shield with fleur de lys in bright gilt. Hinges tight. Binding square. Profusely illustrated with tissue-guarded steel engravings and etchings. The text block is crisp and clean. Lower right hand edges of pages 383-407 are creased. Vol II takes the reader from the end of the crusades to the reign of Charles V.
