Copyright: 1770

Condition: This book is in good condition for its age. Leather. Leather boards are worn along edges and corners with some extensive surface wear. Outer hinges are cracked but the boards are still sewn tight. There is an ink inscription on the front flyleaf dated 1773 and 1798. The first name is Thomas Chamberlin (1773), and the second name is Edward Chamberlin (1898). The title page is torn and attached to a handwritten letter. I didn't try to separate them, but it can be done by an expert using steam. The handwritten letter likely tells the story of the provenance of this exquisite bible as do several pages (before the New Testament) which are annotated in beautiful penmanship and detail the Chamberlin family births and deaths. The text block is printed on high-quality rag and evenly toned. The New Testament portion has moisture damage along the top right corner.

Dimensions: 9" X 10" X 3.75"
